Manager, UNIX National Applications & USPS.com

2005-Present     United States Postal Service       Eagan, MN
  • Led the effort to decrease SUN hardware maintenance by $2 million per year by way of a major technology refresh.
  • Led the effort to consolidate Oracle databases into a shared SUN / Oracle RAC highly available and standardized cluster.
  • Led the effort to create the first shared WebSphere hosting platform and cost chargeback model.
  • Led the effort to build a project management office, standardize UNIX server requirement gathering and sizing, and application hosting process.
  • Converted UNIX support from contractor to employee positions, saving $1.9 million per year.
  • Manage 40 full time employees and contractors which include 4 management staff, and 1,200 SUN Solaris servers, 50 IBM AIS servers and 50 RedHat Linux servers between 2 data centers.
  • Directed the effort to create the first disaster recovery environment at a remote site, by way of identifying critical applications, gathering requirements, sizing hardware, procuring hardware, and overseeing the data replication and server installation.

  • Successfully managed the migration of all International Business Unit systems to the Eagan Data Center.
  • Successfully managed the roll out of a hardware platform (UNIX, Mainframe, and Windows) which facilitated the migration of 36 HR applications into SAP software.
